Marques A. Ivey, Attorney at Law

Mr. Ivey specializes in criminal defense, having an extensive jury trial experience, a well-earned record of successfully representing clients, and a good reputation among the legal community. He has defended clients against charges ranging from traffic violations to murder. No charge is too big or too small.

After graduating from Indiana University Bloomington, Mr. Ivey received his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law, Oklahoma. While in law school, he was a proud member of the Student Bar Association, as well as Chief Justice of the Student Bar Association, Vice President of the Board of Advocates, and The Senior Case Notes and Comments Editor. Following law school, he accepted a position as a trial attorney with the Denver Trial Office of the Colorado State Public Defenders Office. As a deputy public defender, the position challenged Mr. Ivey, giving him the experience to handle a wide-range of criminal matters and issues.

After leaving the Public Defenders, Mr. Ivey joined a medium sized civil defense firm representing large corporations and individuals. After that experience Mr. Ivey knew it was time to begin the process of developing and shaping the law firm that specialized in the needs of the individual.

As a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Ivey will provide you with a vigorous and aggressive defense. He will do everything legally possible to defend you against the effects that criminal charges will have on all areas in your life, including working to help minimize fines, jail sentences, and damages to your professional and personal reputation.

Community Involvement

Mr. Ivey is an active member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (“CCDB”), American Bar Association, and Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Ivey is currently on the Aurora City’s Council Committee, for Housing and Development.

Mr. Ivey is the on the board of directors of the Colorado State Parent Teacher Association (“COPTA”) and Colorado Lawyers for the Arts (“CoLA”). Both organizations are volunteer organizations with very focused goals of helping others.

Mr. Ivey accepts appointments from the Office of Alternative Defense Counsel (“ADC”). ADC is an association of qualified private criminal defense attorneys who represent indigent people eligible for court appointed counsel when the public defender has a conflict in representing them.

As a parent, Mr. Ivey has seen the importance of being involved in his children’s education and the community. In the past Mr. Ivey has served as the President of a PTA for a local elementary school.

In addition, Mr. Ivey is in a local band made up of attorneys. As the drummer for Phoenix Rising, the band plays for charity events, weddings, and community organizations. The band has been playing together since 2004.
